The organizers of the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD) 2026 Conference have officially announced indigenous defense giant Milkor as the Diamond Sponsor for this year’s flagship event. Scheduled to run from 16 to 18 September 2026 alongside the main AAD Exhibition and Air Show at Air Force Base Waterkloof in Pretoria, the conference serves as Africa’s premier intellectual forum for military leadership, government policymakers, defense manufacturers and academic experts.
The partnership emphasizes a shared focus on accelerating indigenous defense manufacturing and fostering public-private partnerships across the continent. Founded in South Africa in 1981, Milkor has transitioned from its historic roots as a specialist weapons manufacturer into a globally recognized defense prime contractor. Today, the company delivers integrated, multi-domain defense hardware and software solutions across air, land and sea theaters.
The high-level conference program is structurally integrated with the broader exhibition layout, providing delegates with immediate access to cutting-edge technology displays and advanced hardware portfolios from global aerospace primes. This year’s panel tracks will focus heavily on emerging continental trends, including the regional expansion of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), maritime security modernization, cyber defense resilience and collaborative procurement strategies designed to support cross-border interoperability.
“We are delighted to welcome Milkor as the Diamond Sponsor of the AAD 2026 Conference,” stated AAD Exhibition Director Nakedi Phasha during the official announcement. “The conference provides a vital strategic platform where government, the armed forces, industry and academia can engage with the complex challenges and emerging opportunities facing Africa’s defense sectors. Milkor’s commitment to innovation and sovereign industrial capability makes them an ideal partner for this essential event.”
