The State of the Nation Address (SONA) will be delivered by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 12 February 2026 at 7 PM. This address is a significant event in South Africa’s political calendar as it brings together the executive, judiciary and legislature to discuss the country’s political, social and economic landscape. It will take place before a joint sitting of the two houses of Parliament and outline the government’s key policy objectives and deliverables for the year ahead.
Adding to the spectacle, a flypast is planned by the South African Air Force featuring a formation of 85 Combat Flying School Hawk Mk120s and Pilatus PC‑7 MkIIs showcasing South Africa’s aviation capability.
As the nation looks forward to SONA, Cape Town’s CBD serves as a reminder of South Africa’s constitutional values, sovereignty and shared responsibility. The SANDF’s lead in these preparations unites citizens in anticipation of the President’s address and the country’s path forward.
