China’s Defence Minister Dong Jun has formally proposed enhancing military collaboration with South Africa, during talks in Beijing with General Rudzani Maphwanya, Chief of the South African National Defence Force, according to state media.

Dong emphasised that the two nations should work closely together to safeguard multilateralism, resist hegemonic dominance, and steer clear of power-driven divides.
General Maphwanya acknowledged China’s ongoing support to the South African military. He committed to advancing cooperation across areas like joint exercises, military training, personnel development, and maritime security operations.
