Damen Naval has signed a contract with Danish defence technology firm Terma A/S to supply the C-Guard Decoy Launching System for the PES frigate, currently under construction for the Colombian Navy. The vessel is based on Damen Naval’s SIGMA 10514 design and will be the first of its kind built in Colombia, in close collaboration with COTECMAR.

The C-Guard system enhances the frigate’s survivability with advanced Anti-Aircraft Warfare (AAW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) modules, capable of countering a wide range of incoming threats. Its modular configuration ensures adaptability for future upgrades and mission requirements.
This contract underscores the growing cooperation between Northern European defence partners, combining Terma’s proven countermeasure technology with Damen’s expertise in naval shipbuilding to support Colombia’s naval modernisation programme.
Jasper Oreel, Project Director at Damen Naval, commented:
“We are pleased to integrate Terma’s advanced C-Guard system into the PES frigate. Its proven performance and modular configuration perfectly complement the mission versatility of the SIGMA 10514 platform. We look forward to successful project execution and continued cooperation with Terma.”
Martin T. Jentsch, Sales Director for Naval Sales at Terma, added:
“We are proud of the relationship and trust from Damen Naval and welcome the opportunity to work closely with both Damen and the Colombian Navy. The selection of Terma’s C-Guard decoy system provides a future-proof, automatic countermeasure capability, with more than 150 systems already in operation worldwide.”
The PES frigate is slated for delivery to the Colombian Navy in 2030, marking a key milestone in Colombia’s naval modernisation and regional maritime capability.
