Paramount South Africa has confirmed the deployment of its advanced border security technologies in support of the Border Management Authority (BMA) at the Lebombo Port of Entry. This deployment formed part of a coordinated effort to enhance border security during the busy Easter holiday period, a time known for heightened risks of illegal crossings and smuggling activities.
As part of the operation, Paramount deployed three Maatla armoured border patrol vehicles, specifically engineered for rugged terrain and high-threat environments. These vehicles were complemented by the Vulture VTOL unmanned aerial system (UAS), providing persistent aerial surveillance to detect suspicious movements, illegal crossings and contraband—particularly in remote and hard-to-access areas and during night-time operations.
This integrated deployment reflects Paramount’s comprehensive approach to border security, combining advanced mobility platforms, intelligent aerial surveillance and command-and-control fusion capabilities. By linking drones, vehicles and personnel through real-time data and communications, the solution delivers a layered, highly responsive operational capability.
Early operational feedback from the Lebombo deployment indicates that these systems have already contributed to the successful detection and apprehension of individuals attempting illegal crossings as well as the interception of contraband, demonstrating the effectiveness of integrated technological solutions in real-world operations.
Paramount South Africa emphasises that this deployment not only highlights the operational value of advanced border security technologies but also provides a critical testbed for evaluating systems under demanding conditions. The leadership demonstrated by the BMA in proactively strengthening border operations during high-risk periods such as Easter is a testament to South Africa’s commitment to securing its borders.
This operation underscores the growing role of technology-driven, integrated security solutions in national defence, providing enhanced situational awareness, operational flexibility and rapid response capabilities in the complex border environment.
