The South African Air Force (SAAF) will host its annual Prestige Parade on Friday, 30 January 2026, at the Air Force Mobile Deployment Wing parade ground, commencing at 10:00. The event commemorates the Air Force’s years of service and recognises the dedication of its personnel.
Air Force bases, units and squadrons will compete across multiple categories, including flying, training, maintenance, support, protection, human resources and servicing. The week of celebrations begins with the Sports Awards Evening, followed by the grand Prestige Evening and culminates in the Prestige Parade.
The parade serves to showcase the SAAF’s operational capabilities and assets while honouring members who have demonstrated excellence throughout the previous year. The Chief of the Air Force (CAF), Lieutenant General Wiseman Mbambo, will personally recognise and celebrate the achievements and hard work of personnel.
Mass flypasts are expected to feature Pilatus PC-7 Mk II aircraft from the Central Flying School, Hawk Mk 120s from 85 Combat Flying School at AFB Makhado, a pair of 16 Squadron Rooivalk Combat Support helicopters and other assets, providing a spectacular aerial display for attendees.
