The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has recorded another successful weekend of border safeguarding operations in Limpopo, recovering stolen vehicles worth over R1.6 million, livestock and illicit cigarettes while arresting a suspect linked to cross-border crime.
Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo, supported by 1 South African Tank Regiment, continues to play a critical role in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of South Africa. The latest operations once again highlight the effectiveness of coordinated border patrols and rapid response measures along vulnerable routes.
Among the significant recoveries was a Ford Ranger Raptor valued at approximately R1 million. The vehicle, reported stolen in Springs under Case No. 517/02/2025 was successfully intercepted and handed over to the South African Police Service at Tshamutumbu Police Station for further investigation.
In a separate incident a second Ford Ranger valued at R600 000 and linked to a case in Jouberton (Case No. 250/2026) was also recovered.
The deployed forces further recovered nine goats valued at R17 100 that had been stolen from Zimbabwe. One suspect was arrested in connection with the livestock theft. In addition, illicit cigarettes worth R699 264 were confiscated during border patrol operations aimed at disrupting smuggling activities.

All recovered vehicles, livestock and confiscated goods as well as the arrested suspect were handed over to the South African Police Service for processing and further legal action.
The Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo, Colonel Dikgabane Herold Tladi commended members for their vigilance and dedication. The praise was conveyed through Lieutenant Colonel Lungile Frans, Officer Commanding 1 South African Tank Regiment acknowledging the troops’ continued commitment to safeguarding South Africa’s borders and combating cross-border criminal activity.
