The South African Army showcased its capabilities to learners in Oudtshoorn on Thursday, 16 October 2025, during a dynamic career exhibition held at the De Jager Sports Complex.
The event brought together a variety of schools from the surrounding area and featured a comprehensive static display of stalls and Prime Mission Equipment (PME) from different Formations and Arms of Service within the Army.
The formal programme included energetic performances by the Western Cape Band, a Silent Drill display by the 4 Artillery Regiment, a Precision Drill by 15 South African Infantry Battalion, and a hand-to-hand combat demonstration by 3 South African Infantry Battalion.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of the Army, Brigadier General Leon Puckree highlighted the purpose of the exhibition — “to expose, educate and empower young South Africans about the career opportunities that exist within the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) through the MSDS programme.” He encouraged the learners to believe in their potential and strive for excellence.
Following the formalities, learners had the opportunity to interact with Army personnel, explore the various displays, and learn more about the diverse career paths available within the SANDF.
