Firmly based in the South African defence industry, Twiga has, for more than a decade, successfully supplied defence and security clients with a range of products and services including Twiga’s mine and ballistic protected vehicles and rugged military patrol boats.
Over the past decade Twiga has focused on designing, developing and qualifying its products to enable the local manufacture by its clients, thereby putting into practice its slogan: creating capabilities, transferring technology.
Twiga’s Nyati 4×4, a modern mine and ballistic protected infantry fighting vehicle, is now manufactured in East Africa as part of the indigenisation of the local defence industry.
The Nyati is designed to provide protection against mines and ballistic threats, ensuring the safety and operational effectiveness of infantry units in challenging environments while serving as a highly mobile platform for a range of military and security operations.
Twiga also specialises in the production and supply of Rugged Military Patrol Boat systems, which have become a vital tool for naval forces, coast guards and security agencies in sub-Saharan Africa.
Twiga’s Rugged Military Patrol Boats – built from high density polyethylene (HDPE), which creates a virtually indestructible water fighting platform – are in service for a wide variety of military and security operations including border patrol, anti-piracy operations and search-and-rescue missions.
Twiga offers a range of training programmes including armoured vehicle operation, armoured vehicle maintenance and repair, and a range of technical skills necessary for local manufacturing.
