Airbus has officially delivered two C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) to the Angolan Air Force marking a major milestone in Angola’s ongoing efforts to enhance its maritime security and operational capabilities.
These highly versatile aircraft are equipped to perform a wide range of missions critical to national and regional security. Their primary roles will include Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, the detection and control of illegal fishing activities, border patrol, maritime traffic monitoring and intelligence-gathering missions. With Angola’s extensive coastline and growing maritime economy, the addition of these aircraft will significantly enhance the nation’s ability to monitor and protect its territorial waters and exclusive economic zone.
The C295 MSA’s advanced mission systems, long endurance and ability to operate in demanding environments make it particularly well-suited to the African operating context. The aircraft is known for its exceptional reliability, low operating costs and ability to perform multiple roles — from transport and surveillance to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
This latest delivery further strengthens Airbus’ presence in Africa. To date, 54 C295s have been ordered by 11 different African air forces reaffirming the aircraft’s position as the leader in its segment across the continent. Its versatility and proven track record have made it a trusted choice for nations seeking a robust and adaptable platform to meet both military and civil operational needs.
For Angola, the acquisition of the C295 MSAs represents a strategic step forward in safeguarding its maritime interests and reinforcing its role in regional security cooperation
