On Tuesday, January 3, 2026, forty vehicles—including thirty-four IVECO troop transport vehicles, three IVECO tow trucks and three double-cab Land Cruiser pick-ups—were officially handed over to the Armed Forces of Ivory Coast (FACI) by H.E.M. Irchad Razaaly, Ambassador of the European Union to Côte d’Ivoire.
The ceremony took place at the General of the Army Corps Ouattara Paul Thomas d’Aquin of the Galliéni camp, under the chairmanship of Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Téné Birahima Ouattara. It was attended by EU ambassadors, senior military officials and conducted by General of the Army Lassina Doumbia, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
This delivery, part of the European Peace Facility (EPF), complements previous support in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) and drone capabilities. It reflects the shared commitment of the EU and Côte d’Ivoire to sustainably strengthen FACI’s operational capabilities.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Razaaly reaffirmed the EU’s support for Côte d’Ivoire’s role in regional stabilization and security. Vice-Prime Minister Ouattara emphasized that, beyond their material value, the vehicles are essential for improving operational mobility, securing the territory, protecting the population and combating cross-border threats while respecting human rights. On behalf of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armies, he expressed gratitude to the European Union.
The handover highlights the strong partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and the EU, underlining their shared commitment to peace and regional security.
