In a bold move to counter the rising threat of unmanned aerial systems on the modern battlefield, KNDS France has unveiled its most advanced SERVAL variant yet: the SERVAL Counter-UAV (C-UAV) platform. Purpose-built to protect high-value assets in high-intensity operations, this vehicle signals a new era of mobile anti-drone warfare for the French Armed Forces.

From Detection to Destruction: One System, Full Coverage
The SERVAL C-UAV is more than just a vehicle—it’s an integrated kill chain on wheels. At its core is the ARX®30 remote turret, equipped with a high-elevation 30 mm cannon, integrated 3D radar, omnidirectional RF sensors, and precision optics. From initial detection to rapid target tracking and high-speed neutralisation, the system offers seamless engagement of hostile drones—including swarming micro-UAVs.
24 Platforms Ordered, More to Follow
The platform is part of the French Army’s broader SCORPION programme, aimed at digitalising and modernising tactical capabilities. Following a December 2024 contract from the DGA (French Defence Procurement Agency), 24 SERVAL C-UAVs will be delivered by 2028, with France’s Military Programming Law anticipating a total fleet of 48.
This decision confirms the French Army’s trust in KNDS France and Texelis, and reaffirms the strategic shift toward distributed, mobile, and scalable C-UAV capability on the future battlefield.
Modular by Design, Built for Adaptability
As the 23rd variant of the SERVAL platform, the C-UAV leverages the programme’s proven modular architecture. It joins configurations for troop transport, EW, VSHORAD, medevac, and command roles. This modularity gives commanders the ability to customise force packages, making it ideal for evolving theatres such as those seen in Ukraine, where drone threats are dynamic, decentralized, and lethal.
Enhanced with 30 mm Airburst Ammunition
In a major upgrade to lethality, KNDS France is developing a dedicated 30 mm airburst round tailored for anti-drone use. When paired with the ARX®30’s high fire rate and advanced targeting, this gives the SERVAL C-UAV precision standoff capability against drone threats at varying altitudes and trajectories.
Future-Ready, Multi-Domain Potential
Though designed for ground-based force protection, the system’s architecture is domain-agnostic—with potential application on naval platforms or fixed-site defence grids. This makes the SERVAL C-UAV a strong candidate for integration across France’s multi-domain defence strategy and NATO interoperability frameworks.
With the SERVAL Counter-UAV, KNDS France has delivered a formidable, mobile, and modular solution to one of the most urgent tactical challenges of our time: neutralising airborne threats before they strike.
