The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin an Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) 2nd Interceptor Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Project Agreement to advance its air and missile defence network. The multi-year agreement, expected to span 15 years, marks a major step forward in strengthening layered defence against evolving aerial threats.
The IFPC 2nd Interceptor program aims to close the capability gap between short-range air defense systems and the Patriot air and missile defense system. Under the agreement, Lockheed Martin will lead the development, production, and delivery of the interceptor, drawing on its extensive experience in Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), command and control, and advanced technology integration.
“We are honored to have been selected by the U.S. Army for this critical program,” said Randy Crites, Vice President of Advanced Programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. “The IFPC 2nd Interceptor agreement reflects the Army’s confidence in our ability to deliver innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions that meet their evolving needs. We look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with the Army to support their mission of protecting the nation and its interests.”
The contract underscores Lockheed Martin’s commitment to 21st Century Security, a company-wide initiative to deliver integrated, digitally enabled defence systems capable of addressing emerging threats. Over the coming decade and beyond, Lockheed Martin will collaborate closely with the U.S. Army to ensure the program’s success through innovation, performance excellence, and sustainment.
Lockheed Martin is also partnering with AeroVironment on the IFPC 2nd Interceptor program, further enhancing system capability through combined technological expertise.
