The Naval Training School (NTS) marked a historic milestone by hosting the graduation ceremony of the 10th Marine Formation Course alongside its 10th anniversary at Tashia Nakada Barracks in Walvis Bay. The dual celebration highlighted a decade of dedicated professional military education within the Namibian Navy, bringing together senior defence officials, family members and military personnel to observe the passing out of the service’s newest marine recruits.
The intensive 10th Marine Formation Course commenced on 12 January 2026 with 120 candidates. Following six months of rigorous physical and tactical instruction focused on discipline, combat endurance and amphibious operations, 107 recruits successfully met the standards required to graduate into the Marine Corps. The curriculum is structured to build physical resilience, tactical proficiency and core military values necessary for specialized operational duties.
Representing the Namibian Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Sacheus Randy !Gonteb, leadership at the ceremony commended the graduates for their perseverance through one of the most demanding phases of their military careers. Defence leadership highlighted that since its establishment, the Naval Training School has played a crucial role in expanding sovereign maritime capabilities through continuous skills development, tactical training and the enforcement of high professional standards across the force.
As the newly commissioned marines transition to operational postings, they assume responsibility for safeguarding national maritime domain security, protecting coastal infrastructure and supporting joint force deployments. The successful graduation and institutional anniversary reinforce the Namibian Navy’s ongoing commitment to building a resilient, highly trained marine force capable of meeting evolving regional security challenges.
