The International Association of Machinists (IAM) is calling on Missouri’s congressional delegation to back more than 3,200 Boeing defence workers currently on strike.

In a letter to lawmakers, the IAM urged them to press Boeing to return to the negotiating table and to show solidarity by visiting the picket lines. The striking workers, based at Boeing facilities in Missouri and Illinois, are key to producing some of the United States’ most critical defence platforms, including fighter jets and other military systems.
According to the IAM, Boeing’s latest contract offer does not adequately reflect the skills, dedication, and experience of its defence workforce. The union argues that fair pay, improved benefits, and stronger workplace protections are essential to attracting and retaining the talent needed to sustain defence production.
Boeing has said it remains open to discussions and is implementing contingency measures to maintain production during the strike. However, the dispute has raised concerns over potential delays in delivering defence projects if the stand-off continues.
